Hi everyone, this is Jessica Bradley Rushing and today I'm here to talk to you about one of the reasons why I'm such a strong supporter of labor unions. So there's a thing called the gender wage gap where we know and data shows that women on average earn about 81 cents for every dollar that men earn. That's for white women and women of color earn even less per dollar than what men earn. However, when we look at labor unions, we can see that the wage gap gets eliminated because labor unions have tools like collective bargaining to ensure that their members get fair pay. So in a labor union, women and men get the same pay for the same work at the same level, and it eliminates the gender wage gap. It's one of the reasons why I'm such a strong supporter of labor unions and why I want to see labor unions strong, growing, and have the ability to provide their members with fair pay at every level for every person.
