Earlier this week, the town of Duxbury received a notification from the Federal Highway Administration stating that the existing Powder Point Bridge is not eligible to be added to the National Historic Register of Places. Powder Point Bridge is in need of repair, some say replacement, and this is an issue that's been ongoing for years. I worked on this issue actually when I was in Congressman Bill Keating's office way back in 2021. As someone who considers Duxbury Beach one of my favorite places on earth, whether it is winter or summer, this is not just something that matters to me as a community member, but on a personal level as well. The truth is, there's not an easy solution, because if there were, we would already have found it. But as your state representative, I will work hard to make sure that we look at every option available and do the right thing for the bridge, for the beach, for the town, and for our community.
