Halifax's recent water shutoffs
Hi everyone, Jessica Bradley-Rushing here. The recent water shutoffs in Halifax have showed us something, reminded us of something that I've been saying since I was on the Select Board in Pembroke. We have got to stop ignoring our aging infrastructure and waiting for an emergency to happen rather than doing preventative maintenance. Crews in Halifax worked around the clock repairing multiple water main breaks while families and businesses went without water. And it's not just Halifax that has issues. I know that in Pembroke there have been instances where you turn on the tap and the water comes out brown. In many communities in the South Shore, there are also PFAS or forever chemicals in the water supplies. As your state representative, I will work to ensure that we get the state funding we need to replace aging pipes, to deal with PFAS contaminants, and to ensure that our water quality meets the highest standards. We can do it and we can do it without always putting the burden on taxpayers every time an emergency comes up. As your state rep, I'll work to do just that.
