Being an Inaugural Member of American Service Fellowship at Harvard

Hi everyone. This is Jessica Bradley Rushing, and today I am coming to you from the Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge. I'm up here a couple days a week right now because I have the honor and privilege of being one of 50 members of the inaugural cohort of American Service Fellows here at the Kennedy School this year. This is a brand new fellowship program, and it's meant for people who have at least seven to 10 years of public service in their backgrounds, and I'm so so excited to be able to participate. The experience has already been really really incredible, and I am meeting people from all across the country and around the world who share my interests and my passion for government and public service. I'm taking classes in things like economics, media and the press, American politics, American national security, and more. And I'm connecting with the folks at the centers here at the Kennedy School on topics like state and local government and democratic renovation. I am really excited about everything that this program has to offer and everything I'm going to learn in the coming year. And I'm even more excited to bring all of this experience and knowledge to bear to better serve the residents of the Sixth Plymouth District.
